Because You Want To Live Forever In The Lights You Make

Here's an essay I wrote for history based on "Sacred Honor." I thought it was okay. Perhaps you could read it.

"What is sacred honor? And why does it withhold so much worth, so much respect? Every day men and women walk through the life of the average citizen, waking up to a common breakfast and then to sacrifice themselves to the work force. One would think that this habit would wear away to a mediocre mind and a gray society. Yet, it doesn’t. For some reason, we all hold something within ourselves that we live for, that we fight for, that we’d die for.
This is that sacred honor. Whether it is the love of our lives or that moment we fought for a friend, we all have something that we remember forever and we can’t forget this sacred honor that we hold so close to our hearts. Our fear of losing this sacred honor is unbearable, so we defend it with our lives.
Men and women all around sing of tragedy and write poems of dark descents, but this only demonstrates their loyalty and their love for that sacred honor that they have. We begin to think they have lost what they hold precious, but, in fact, they are only strengthening their respect for it. Back in times of war, they promised each other to fight for their friends and their country with their deepest sacred honor; the best promise one can make. Not only will they fight for their own life, but they’re going to protect everything they have as if it were their very own sacred honor.
Americans are not the only citizens that have this honor stemmed in their cores; this honor exists in every living being, though it will always exist in different forms, different forms that live and breathe and cause us to fight and love. One of the biggest mistakes that we can make is to believe we are the only ones that have something to fight for.
My sacred honor? My friends. I will defend, I will protect, I will fight for, and I will die for them. They may not see what they have done for me, but they have done more than save my life. I owe them my all. I owe them more than my all. I owe them my sacred honor. They fight for me and distract me from shadows that tempt me to fall, they laugh and they live, but most importantly, they care.
I may have not matured fully, but I know that my sacred honor is what I have said. I don’t what may happen in the future, but I do know that I will battle to keep this sacred honor of mine alive. There will be some that believe that they don’t have anything to live for, but to them I say:
There is.
You just haven’t discovered how to find it.
Don’t give up.
Don’t let them take you alive."

Definitely not literary genius, but it holds a pretty good message. Hope you enjoyed.

  1. I enjoyed this a lot. So much I want to paint quotes on my wall. So I probably will.
